Unusual Cases

The following is a list of rare conditions that can be treated by laser therapy. Some of these cases can tre treated on the NHS and it is worth discussing your case with your GP and seeking a referral.
Condition Treatment
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease Wasting of facial lymphatic tissue
Darier's Disease Superficial congential irritation with excleelent symptomatic relief after treatment with the CO2 laser.
Brooke-Spiegler syndrome Small lumps in the skin. Also respond well to CO2 laser treatment.
Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra Responds to CO2 laser treatment.
Folliculitis Decalvans We treat this with Photofrin Photodynamic Therapy (PDT).
Birt-Hogg-Dube - facial folliculoma's in certain cases - fibrofolliculomas, trichodiscomas or acrocordons Conditions characterised by lumps in the skin. These respond very well to laser ablation.
Tuberous sclerosis These vascular lumps are slow to resond to Dye Laser treatment but we have had some significant improvemeent with a CO2 laser followed by long pulse Nd:YAG laser for the remaining redness.
